3 TV recommendations, 3 books, & a workshop ✨

I'm always excited for fall. 🍁

Cooler days and nights, the leaves changing colors, and pumpkin everything. Yes, please. And even though I no longer live by a school calendar, it still gives back-to-school vibes, and I love it all!

A few of my favorite series are returning with new seasons soon. If you're looking for good TV, and you haven't seen these yet, let the viewing begin! 📺

Shrinking - Apple TV+
Far and away, my favorite series in recent years. Depth, humor, and lovable characters. They're flawed and evolving, and they show up for each other. Heartbreak and feel-good all wrapped into one. Bill Lawrence has produced some great TV (Ted Lasso, Scrubs, Bad Monkey, Spin City), and this might be his best work yet. Plus, Harrison Ford.

Nobody Wants This - Netflix
When I finished the first season last year, I started it right over again. I've returned to the finale several times for a dose of joy when feeling blue. Tune in for the chemistry, the family dynamics, and the laughs.

The Diplomat - Netflix
Kerri Russell is a powerhouse. This one is not easy viewing at the end of a long day. It's more of a 'show up and keep up' kind of thing, but it's worth it. Plus, Allison Janney became the president at the end of last season, and Bradley Whitford is about to make his debut as the first gentleman. West Wing reunion!

For my fellow book lovers, these authors have written books that spoke to my soul, and they're back with more. 📚

Brené Brown - Strong Ground
I've learned so much from this woman. She's raw and real, funny and deep. Her commitment to things she cares about inspires me. Her interviewing skills are exceptional, and her podcast series Unlocking Us is at the top of my list.

Elizabeth Gilbert - All the Way to the River
It's been almost 20 years since I first read Gilbert's work in her breakout memoir Eat, Pray, Love. People have big feelings about this book, and it's not always positive. But for me, as a woman who had barely been out of the country at the time (no offense to Canada and Mexico), I was drawn into her world and so grateful to get to go with her to Italy, India, and Indonesia. Even more influential for me is Big Magic, which has a spot on my nightstand. Her views on creativity and spirituality feel like coming home.

Sue Monk Kidd - Writing Creativity and Soul
Speaking of creativity and spirituality, Sue Monk Kidd has been writing about the sacred feminine for decades. Her most recent novel, The Book of Longings, is one of the most inspiring books I've read. “When I am dust, sing these words over my bones: she was a voice.”

And finally, a workshop. ✨

How Not to Pee Your Pants was a hit! I'm evolving it for the next round, adding things beyond leaking, and expanding the anatomy section. Only women signed up for this month's workshops, but three men wrote to me to ask questions. Round two will be more of a pelvic health 101. It will feature both vaginas and penises, so be sure to show up for the fun.

In all seriousness, this is stuff we should have learned years ago. Join me to learn a little more about this vehicle that moves you through life. It's a miraculous thing.

You can prevent or improve pelvic health problems. I can help.

Wednesday, October 1st at 9:30 am MDT -or- Saturday, November 1st at 9:30 am MDT

You’ll receive access info for both classes. Choose which one works best for you. Class is live, and there is no recording.

That's all for now.
Sending love,
Jen

P.S. If you joined me for How Not to Pee Your Pants, you'll receive access to this updated version for free. Don't sign up, just send me a note letting me know you'd like to return.

The intersection of pooping and yoga is... The squat. If you want to make pooping easier, put something under your feet to bring your knees above your hips. I've been using the Squatty Potty for years and have recommended it to so many patients. You could also use yoga blocks or get creative with things you already have around the house. Or, check this out. The new Sh*t Shoes bring the fun to mechanically optimized pooping. I love their retro vibe and educational materials. They sold out...

I taught a pelvic health workshop yesterday, and the information about peeing was a hit. When I asked for urination takeaways, these are some of the responses: Relax when you pee - sit, lean forward No power peeing Don't hold too long if you can help it Sip water throughout the day Peeing is self-care The bladder is a muscle! Yes! For the anatomy lovers, the muscular wall of the bladder is called the detrusor. It stretches and relaxes for the bladder to fill, communicates and coordinates when...

Hello! I've been working on yoga videos, and I'm happy to report the first one is ready to watch. If your hips are cranky and you don't feel like doing anything but lying down, I've got you. We can do both at the same time. You'll want to grab a yoga strap, towel, sheet, or belt. The practice takes 20 minutes and works well for easing into the day or winding down in the evening. It's available on Insight Timer for free, whenever you want to use it. Watch it here and bring on the happy hips!...
